Australian Koala Foundation

The Australian Koala Foundation (AKF) is the principal non-profit, non-government organisation dedicated to the conservation and effective management of the wild koala and its habitat.  Koalas are in serious decline suffering from the effects of habitat destruction, domestic dog attacks, bushfires and road accidents.  The AKF estimates that there are approximately 80,000 koalas left in the wild, and maybe as few as 43,000.  The greatest threat facing wild Koalas is habitat loss, and for this reason the AKF is campaigning for a Federal Koala Protection Act which will focus on protecting both Koalas and their habitat.
