     Gawad Kalinga (GK) means ‘to give care’ and was founded in 2003 by Tony Meloto, by Filipinos and for Filipinos. It is a grassroots NGO that has initiated a national movement to end poverty for 5 million families by 2024, through an inclusive and sustainable development approach. Transforming slums into productive, peaceful and empowered communities. The model has been replicated in Indonesia, Guam, Papua New Guinea and Cambodia. Starting with one community, GK transformed 2300 communities across the Philippines over the past decade. International awards have recognised the social impact, scale and sustainability of the development model, as well as Community Impact Assessment Surveys. Further impacts include: One million people supported out of poverty; human dignity restoration; 1,500 houses built for survivors of super typhoon Haiyan; establishing the first social enterprise incubator in the Philippines; 600 international student volunteer alumni, more than 60 global academic institutions.

    Gift

    I gave the Divinity Purple bracelet to my niece/goddaughter as a gift, and to accompany the Butterfly bracelet, for her making the Honor Roll and moving on to High School. She absolutely loved them both as well as the descriptive cards that came with them. Purple is her favorite color which is one of the reasons I chose them. I see many more DivinityLA bracelets in her future as various gifts for her accomplishments.
